Having a beauty blog for your salon studio is so important for you if your goal is to grow and I am talking to you today about how I started THIS blog and a little back story on how I got here.

This is actually going to dig a little deeper into me and my life so thank you in advance for reading!

I feel like many times in my life I have had the urge to start a beauty blog.

It was almost about a year ago when I found myself going through the hardest loss of my life, in need of a distraction and a positive direction forward I started poking around online again with the idea of starting a blog.

I had recently lost quite a bit of weight and was SUPER into wanting to help others do the same.

During a search for ‘How to start a blog’ on Pinterest one day, I found an article that had a video in it of this guy saying he had 5 easy steps for me to follow if I wanted to start a blog. He was ridiculously relatable and made the process sound simple and totally doable.

I signed up for his free 7 days course for starting a website and at the end of that week, I was a full-blown BEAUTY BLOGGER!

In an attempt to bury the feelings I was going through at the time I dived so deep into learning how to blog that over the course of the next few months I would eventually buy 3 online programs of theirs. One for building and launching my blog, one for marketing my blog to drive traffic to it and another on how to actually make money with my blog!

My blog was called grungegrowsup.com if you’re interested in checking it out. I am not trying to hide anything here. I love that blog which is why it’s still live! However, after I was done with my courses I realized…health and fitness is NOT my area of expertise and although I think it is a fabulous ‘hobby blog’ I didn’t have enough drive right now for it as I do with my current industry!

That is what led me to adapt the lesson I had learned from building that website and use it to redo my salon studio’s website!

This was nerve racking for me! I had this idea of being in control of how my website looks and what I put on it and that it MUST be super difficult. I put it off for a few months actually, telling myself I couldn’t have my website ‘go down’ for a period of time while I rebuilt.

What a load of crap that was!

When I finally took the leap and decided to start building what would be the NEW AND IMPROVED salon website I was done with it…IN A DAY!!!

Yep, 1 freakin day!

I have since had the ability to customize it however I want!

WHAAAT?!?

Let’s go over a quick recap of the features my new website has that my website from before couldn’t do:

  • Look how I want it to!
  • Feel like an actual website, not a landing page
  • collect visitors emails
  • Automatically send my new email subscribers emails
  • The ability to send this group of emails special deals and announcements when I want
  • I HAVE A BEAUTY BLOG FOR MY SALON NOW
  • I can not just LINK my website to my social media accounts I can embed my feeds onto pages
  • I can show my Yelp reviews on my webpage
  • A full or partial service menu
  • I can add in special plugins to make my website more Google friendly
  • Feature how many shares my posts have gotten raising my online reputation
  • I have an online shop where I can sell retail to anyone who visits my page
  • I can link to Amazon and collect a small commission on tools or products I am recommending
  • and SOOO much more!!

I’m not kidding I could actually sit here all day listing out all of the incredible things that having a website that is FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE has allowed me to do with my salon’s website.

The point is, I now not only have the ability to really impress possible clients with my website but I have so many more marketing tools available to me!

And that part about commissions from AMAZON!! I mean, I know…nobody wants to refer anybody to Amazon for sales we used to get years ago all to ourselves BUT the world has changed. We can either cry about it or take a piece of the pie! That decision is totally on you!

NOW, after I rebuilt my salon’s website and was streamlining EVERYTHING I could, I had a realization!

If I had any plans on actually getting back to my roots of starting an education platform for salon studio owners to come to for lessons that are specific to them…I couldn’t do it under that website!

That website was for my clients…or possible clients! I couldn’t do everything I wanted to do out of that one.

SOOO, my journey to creating a 3rd website this year began!

Luckily, I had 2 under my belt at this point and I was seeing tremendous growth from both of them so I trusted that the lessons I had learned in the 3 courses(see link below) I had taken were the right way to go!

I took a little longer to build this website. I really wanted everything to be as perfect as possible.

That’s when it happened.

My buried emotions were starting to creep back in and I was losing motivation!

I have always been able to keep my motivation in running my salon. It’s something I have been doing for years now so I am good at it and luckily have taken the time over the years to create healthy business habits that can carry me through rough times without my business feeling it.

However, everything on the side (this) was starting to slip.

I started getting really depressed

I made a personal decision to make a big move in my life. I moved back to the Bay Area from the Central Coast of California. I went from a peaceful beach town back to the chaos of city living!

I made this decision because it saves 4 hours on my days in commuting time. Although I loved where I lived I needed to save this time so I could refocus on THIS!

After I was able to settle into my new home and got back to a few of my regular daily routines in life I finally gave myself the final talk!

It was we are either, we are doing this…or giving up!

Obviously, because you are here you can see…We now have an online educational platform to come to for lessons specifically for us salon studio owners!

I’m gonna be pretty transparent here and give you the exact tools I have used!

I not only tell you the exact courses I have taken to learn how to build my own website but how I learned how to monetize it and bring in REALY MONEY while driving traffic for FREE from social media!

I went from a techy nobody to a multi-website builder (clearly really good at speaking English!) after taking the Build and Launch your Blog eCourse!

I have driven thousands of people to my blogs by learning how to use Pinterest in my favor in the Pinterest Traffic Avalanche eCourse!

I had the idea of creating this educational platform for salon studio owners after taking the Six Figure Blogger eCourse!

I wrote this blog post for you today because I want you to really know my story. Get a feeling for my passion behind this website and KNOW that my intentions here are just to help you stay out of the ruts that I know this industry can bring!

Remember when we were starting beauty school and our heads were all so full of dreams? We can have all of those dreams. ALL OF THEM! We just have to have a vision for what we want and then put into a place a plan to get there. I promise you, if it’s to grow your salon studio or even a side business related to the industry getting your business online and looking professional is the next step you NEED to take!

Successful people have worked hard to get where they are. People who live comfortably, work comfortably!
